The wallpaper (sein und zeit), the theory, the Baseman

I've been meaning to start doing this for a while but keep forgetting. Downloads! Desktop and iPhone!

"Sein Und Zeit" means "Being and Time." It's the title of a book by Martin Heidegger, who was a German philosopher. You can get the general idea of it here. It's aaalllllssssssooo the title of an X-Files episode (you know me...). Enjoy! Share and use as you like, just please link back to this post if you do.

Saturday morning I met Kim at a cafe and we talked about Boy Meets World and Tamagotchis and small town upbringings and how things tend to fall into place when we're doing something we're meant to do, because other people are subconsciously drawn to authentic passion and excitement. And we drank Bloody Marys. A successful breakfast "meeting" if you ask me, especially since we had never met in person before (we started to talk through Instagram)! I left feeling inspired and ready to create something great, both for myself and for freelance clients.

my "theory"

I know I've written before about my theory that things fall into place when we trust our intuition and only do what feels right, but I feel the need to reiterate because so many new opportunities have come my way in the past couple months.

Just...never forget that if you put heart and excitement into something, it will come back to you. It's been proven to me again and again and again. It took a while for me to fall into a groove of something I truly love doing, but now that I'm there I'll never look back. I never thought I would have a career that lets me look at color palettes and fonts during day and draw things that people want to buy at night. It's all so exciting, even after doing it for a long time :)

I can't stop listening to the new Justin Timberlake album. Do you have any idea how rare it is for me to love not just a pop song, but an entire album? Reeeeeal rare, that's how rare. Also I don't know why it took him so long to get rid of that curly hair but he is about 100,000x more bangable than he ever was before.

Have you ever heard of Gary Baseman? He's an artist here in LA that I adore, and he's having a party at the Skirball (near the Getty) to kick off his exhibition there that runs through August. Here are some of my favorites:

Needless to say I'm REALLY excited for this show.

  1. I love the wallpaper, and I love the words, I love that they are German and I love what they mean and I love that you got them from a philosophy book AND from X-Files. However, could you make one with slightly more "manly" colours? Just for me. Pwetty pwease. Maybe like greens and blues or even turquoise. Turquoise is a great word. ^_^

  2. I like this blog. I think you're funny. Haha, I used to be SO into NSYNC back in the day, so I actually prefer Justin with his fro. I love that my 12-year-old self dictates my taste preferences in my twenties...

That's great. I need to really take that in and believe it. It's like something I believe intellectually, but I don't necessarily live. I'm moving closer to it though.

I like this blog. I think I can learn some things here. :)

    1. WELCOME my dahhhling.

I used to be the same exact way, until one day I was presented with an opportunity (or a big risk, depending on how you look at it) and I decided to just let my instincts be my guide. Best decision I've ever made!
